NETWORK MARKETING 101:

Become a PRODUCT of your PRODUCT! Remember that you are always a WALKING BILLBOARD to your business. Ask yourself if YOUR BOARD would catch YOUR ATTENTION if YOU were driving by!  In this Profession of Network Marketing and Direct Sales, your product is not always what you are SELLING.  Your product is often YOU.  YOU are what people are “joining” YOU are why people choose to click that sign up button.  People want what YOU are offering them.  They are looking for guidance, leadership, vision and a feeling of comfort that if they join YOU they will have the support and strength they are looking for to help them to go full force towards their goals and dreams.  Many times when people don’t join your company, it’s not the company they decided not to join…many times it’s YOU they decided not to join.  This is why in this profession we always talk about Self Development and Leadership Skills.  Working on yourself is really working on your PRODUCT.  The better you become, the better people you attract and the better quality of people who will want to join YOU.  Over the years, I have truly watched this happen in my career.  I remember about 8 years ago always asking my mentor WHEN I was going to find people to work with that were “just like me”.  He continued to try to get me to understand “When YOU get better you will attract better people!”  Today I look back and he was so right.  I had to start investing time and money into ME in order to attract the people I was seeking.  Screen Shot 2014-04-22 at 2.40.44 PM

 

 

 

1. You can never invest too much money in yourself.

2. Always lead from the front! Leading by example will attract those who do the same.

3. Never stop GROWING! No matter how much “Success” you feel you have obtained, always strive to learn more, grow more and become more.

 

Again, at the end of the day, this profession comes down to YOU becoming a true product of your product.  YOU becoming the best you can truly be so you can attract the best of the best to your business.  That includes not just a physical representation when we talk about “product”, but also a true mental representation as well.  This is an awesome profession…the art of Network Marketing and Direct Sales…but you have to treat it with the respect that this profession deserves.  That starts with YOU!

NETWORK MARKETING 101: Sacrifice=Success

I remember when I first walked away from my full time job as a Probation Officer and wondering if I was making the right decision.  You’re going to have to make some SACRIFICES if you want to have SUCCESS with your business!  You may have to miss a sporting event or your favorite tv show.  You may have to drive across town in the rain or snow for a meeting, and the person you are meeting with may not even show.  You may have to miss a family event or two, you may have to invest some $ you really didn’t have into something you don’t even know for sure is going to work, you may have to miss your kids practices and maybe even a recital or two.

I clearly remember the day I called and had my cable turned off at my house when I was living in Michigan.  It was one of my biggest distractions and yet one of my biggest pleasures.  I decided to do a 30 day “Mental Fast” suggested by the one and only Empowerment Specialist Jerry “DRhino” Clark (email me and I’ll get you info on the fast!).  It was the beginning of entire lifestyle change for me.  As soon as I began to cleanse all the distractions out of my life by replacing my tv time with reading and self development cd time and becoming more focused on my business, my life and business began to change drastically before my eyes.  Not too long after, I was walking off my job and moving from Michigan to Atlanta to work with one of my business mentors (I highly suggest getting a mentor!) leaving all of my friends, my family, my job and even my house back home.  Was it a hard decision…OF COURSE…was it the RIGHT DECISION…OF COURSE!  “In order to change some things in your life…you will need to change some things in your life!”  I’m not saying you have to make the same sacrifices I have, you just need to know up front that this change in your life WILL come with some sacrifices!

Bottom line is…your FUTURE SUCCESS will clean up all the PRESENT SACRIFICES you’re making in a blink of an eye.  Put the time in today to have your FREEDOM back tomorrow!  Be honest with yourself…what is holding you back?  What sacrifices do you KNOW you need to make that you simply have not been willing to do up to this point in time?  A Sacrifice today will lead to Success tomorrow.  Are you willing to delay the gratification and truly work for what you want? At the end of the day…are you willing to make the sacrifice?

“Do the things today that others won’t do to have the things tomorrow others won’t have.”

The FORTUNE is in the FOLLOW UP! Make sure you take just as much time and effort in following up as you did introducing the opportunity. So many times we as business people concentrate all of our time networking and making connections with others, collecting their contact information feeling good about our “productive day” and then never reaching out to them.

Other times, we do make those connecting phone calls and set those coffee and lunch meetings and do our “presentations” and when that person on the other end of our “pitch” doesn’t make a life changing decision THAT DAY…they are thrown to the wayside.  Remember…one person’s “trash” is another person’s treasure!  If YOU DON’T FOLLOW UP…SOMEONE ELSE WILL!

NETWORK MARKETING 101: 5 Phases of Business

FIVE PHASES OF YOUR MLM BUSINESS

PHASE 1: This is the phase you want to always “Live In”!  This is the phase where you are PERSONALLY piquing interest/networking every day, conducting 3-way calls with your upline and downline every day, hosting and presenting Home Business Meetings, Conference Calls, Webinars and trainings all throughout the week, and meeting with people about your business “belly to belly” as often as possible.

PHASE 2: I refer to this phase as the “Management Phase”.  During this phase of your business, you start MANAGING not doing!  You spend your time checking your website all day to see what YOUR TEAM IS DOING instead of getting out and DOING yourself!  You are caught up in calling and checking in on (harassing) your team members to tell them what THEY should be doing that day.  You spend more time “tracking” your team and less time adding to and supporting your team.

Screen Shot 2014-02-23 at 11.49.18 PMPHASE 3: I call this phase “My team sucks” phase.  This is the phase where you start to blame YOUR lack of success on what you think your team is not doing.  “My team just wont listen to me.” “My team isn’t working hard enough.” “My team won’t plug into the system.” Instead of staying in Phase 1…you are focused on making your TEAM stay in phase 1.

PHASE 4: The “Blame your Sponsor” Phase.  When blaming your team isn’t helping…now you resort to blaming your sponsor.  “My sponsor wont listen to me.” “My sponsor isn’t helping me.” “My sponsor won’t place any volume under me.” “My sponsor…My sponsor…My sponsor!”

PHASE 5: The “Phased out Phase”.  When all else fails and you have no one else to blame but yourself!  This is when you QUIT on your business and QUIT on yourself!

In any business you are going to have your ups and your downs.  This is YOUR BUSINESS first!  Don’t you DARE blame any lack of success on your team or your sponsor!  Instead, Step Up and take your business by the horns! Stay in “Phase 1” like you expect your team to, become the sponsor you wish you had and do the things for your team you wish your sponsor had done for you!  Who have you ever met who has Complained or Excused their way to the top?  Stop complaining…Stop making excuses…and GO AFTER YOUR GOALS AND DREAMS!  It can be done, if you simply stay in Phase 1!

It’s true that MLM is often thought of as a “bad word” but the stigma comes from the APPROACH not the BUSINESS STRUCTURE which has proven over the years to be one of the most effective ways to enter the entrepreneurship arena.” (Thanks FORBES)…the key lesson here is to become a true PROFESSIONAL at your trade. As Networkers, learn to watch your APPROACH!  Now-a-days, an average person can smell a “desperate” Network Marketer from a mile away. Stop STALKING and start SORTING and watch your business grow!
